Companies in detail which have been working in Pakistan for the exploration of natural gas Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Oil & Gas Company Limited commonly known as KPOGCL is a provincial oil and gas holding company based in Peshawar, Pakistan. It was established by the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2013.  KPOGCL is a member of the Pakistan Petroleum Exploration and Production Companies Association. The chief executive officer of the company is Usman Ghani Khattak.

The company owns exploration and production rights for about 10 trillion cubic feet (280 billion cubic meters) of natural gas and 600 million barrels (95 million cubic meters) of petroleum resources in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In January 2016, the Federal Government of Pakistan allowed KPOGCL for the first time in the country’s history to sell seepage crude oil. The company may supply up to 23 barrels per day (3.7 m3/d) to Attock Refinery. It produces about 50,000 barrels per day (7,900 m3/d) of oil and 385 million cubic feet per day (10.9 million cubic meters per day) of natural gas. In the next ten years perspective, it is estimated to increase up to 200,000 barrels per day (32,000 m3/d) and 2 billion cubic feet per day (57 million cubic meters per day) correspondingly.

In 2015, the company signed a memorandum of understanding with Russian exploration company Rosgeologia on joint exploration and production activities.

In addition to its own activities, the company provides services to other oil and gas companies in seismic data acquisition, geological and geophysical surveys, logistic support, and security arrangement.

In 1978, Pakistan Oilfields took over the exploration and production business of Attock Oil Company. Since then, Pakistan Oilfields has been investing independently. Pakistan Oilfields is a leading oil and gas exploration and production company listed on Pakistan Stock Exchange.

Puma Energy Pakistan

Puma Energy Pakistan, formerly known as Ardmore Gas, is a Pakistani oil marketing company that is a subsidiary of Singaporean company Puma Energy and is based in Karachi, Pakistan. It was founded in 2001. The company operates more than 470 retail shops in the country. In 2014, it was acquired by the Pakistani conglomerate company Chisti Group. In 2017, Puma Energy acquired a majority stake in the company. As a result, the company became a joint venture between Puma Energy and Chisti Group.

Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited

Companies in detail which have been working in Pakistan for the exploration of natural gas Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) (Urdu: سوئی ناردرن گیس پائپ لائن لمیٹڈ‎) was incorporated as a private limited Company in 1963 and converted into a public limited company in January 1964 under the Companies Act 1913 of British India, now The Companies Act 2017 of Pakistan, and is listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange. SNGPL basically provides gas to 16 regions. It has 67 Lack Consumers. The Consumers in Sialkot are about 3.2 million approx.

The main Transmissions regions of SNGPL are Faisalabad, Lahore, Multan, and Wah. The maximum diameter used in transmission Pipelines is round about 42 inches. SNGPL takes Gas in 2 ways. The first one is System Gas and the second is RLNG. In System Gas, the gas obtained from our own resources and is about 750-800 mmcd. While in the case of RLNG ( Re-gasified Liquified Natural gas), we import gas from foreign countries in the form of Liquid in a closed container. Then we Re-gasified it and convert this liquid into gas. Its quantity is about 100 mmcd.

The Company took over the existing Sui-Multan System with 217 miles (349 km) of 16 inches (410 mm) and 80 miles (130 km) of 10 inches (250 mm) diameter pipelines from Pakistan industrial Development Corporation (PIDC) and Dhulian-Rawalpindi-Wah system with 82 miles (132 km) of 6 inches (150 mm) diameter pipeline from Attock Oil Company Limited. The Company’s commercial operations commenced by selling an average of 1.3 million cubic meters (47 million cubic feet) per day gas in two regions viz. Multan and Rawalpindi, serving a total number of 67 consumers.

SNGPL’s 11 sites have been registered under the “SMART2” Program by Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (PAK-EPA). It was formed in 1955. The company in its present shape was formed on March 30, 1989, following a series of mergers of three pioneering companies, namely Sui Gas Transmission Company Limited, Karachi Gas Company Limited, and Indus Gas Company Limited.

Sui Southern Gas Company is Pakistan’s leading integrated gas company. The company is engaged in the business of transmission and distribution of natural gas in the southern part of Pakistan- mainly in Sindh and Baluchistan. Sui Southern Gas Company transmission system extends from Sui, Balochistan to Karachi, Sindh.

The company also owns and operates the only gas meter manufacturing plant in the country, under an agreement with Schlumberger Industries, France. The Company is listed on the Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad Stock Exchanges. On 11 January 2016, all 3 city stock exchanges merged to form Pakistan Stock Exchange.
